FLIGHT INFO

60 Second is that flight will be around $2K/person, is 24 hours of travel time and you should book well in advance.

Flights are between $1,200 and 2,500 depending on days, times and airlines. We booked in early January and optimized cost by tracking over several days and picking best day (mid week) and time (red eyes). Anything approaching $1,200/person is very likely the best pricing and we’d recommend not to wait for better pricing if within +/- $200.

Please note that the total travel time is usually a minimum of ~24 hours from Denver (~20 hours from NYC) given layovers.

China is attempting to promote travel back to China, so Chinese based airlines (Air China, China eastern airlines) would be your best bet if possible. We included our travel plan below for reference. We recommend you arrive on the same day with us or at least a few days ahead of the wedding so you can join us for organized sightseeing with driver and translator all being arranged by Sabrina’s family. Our daily agenda while we are in Beijing is also included on the Karl/Sabrina trip Itinerary page.

WHAT TO PACK

No special clothing is needed for the trip relating to the wedding.

See wedding details before for further clarification.

Given the similar weather to Denver (or NYC) normal clothes are recommended, i.e. clothes you would take and wear for general travel.

There will be sightseeing tours so comfortable walking shoes are encouraged.

Most things can be found in China that you will need except U.S. wall charger plug converters and deodorant.

For those interested in more traditional Chinese attire, please email us.

WEATHER

Weather in September in Beijing is similar to Denver

Similar to Denver with temperature highs and lows of 79F and 59F (vs 82F & 50F) 5 days of rain (vs 4) and humidity of 50% (vs 51%).

Smog is slightly better relative to Denver, but this does vary seasonally and over time

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

Bottom line is the food is delicious and nothing should be worried about, just stick to bottled water

- Tap Water: not drinkable, use bottled water for consumption and brush teeth

- Silverware: Some restaurants may not have American silverware (Fork and Knife) and only have chopsticks, so feel free to keep a fork with you if you'd prefer just in case

- Food: if you join us for the 3-day agenda before the wedding, it’s unlikely you’d be on your own having to figure out restaurant options. Please let Sabrina know when ordering if you have any allergies

- Most food in China is based on common ingredients you would see in America (chicken, rice, dough, vegetables, etc.) but they are made in more unique ways with more seasoning and sauces (think chicken noodle soup vs a soup dumpling)

- The majority of foods in China are not extreme or unusual (think pigs head, etc.) as its expensive to procure these kinds of foods. The menus for the entirety of the wedding will be common and appealing for Western cultures (think dumplings and bao buns).
